Preview: Freedom Eagles vs. Battlefield Bobcats

Freedom has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Battlefield Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Freedom knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 games -- so hopefully Battlefield likes a good challenge.

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Freedom walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Colonial Forge 52-16 at home. Freedom might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matches by 36 points or more this season.

Freedom's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tristan Evans-Trujillo, who threw for 289 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and Jeffrey Overton, who rushed for 301 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 15.1 yards per carry. Evans-Trujillo is absolutely dominating the passing touchdown category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Freedom also got help from Carleton juju Preston who showed off his sure hands for 125 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Battlefield put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain View and snuck past 21-18.

Freedom's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Battlefield, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.

Freedom ended up a good deal behind Battlefield in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, losing 24-7. Can Freedom avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
