Softball Game Preview: Hayfield Hawks vs. West Potomac Wolverines

The Hayfield Hawks will challenge the West Potomac Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Hayfield made easy work of Justice and carried off a 16-1 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, West Potomac hadn't done well against South County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wolverines narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Stallions 8-7. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Sabrina Driggers, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Mackenzie Garr was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

West Potomac's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Hayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Hayfield took their win against West Potomac when the teams last played back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 17-6 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
