Volleyball Game Preview: Socastee Braves vs. Hanahan Hawks

Socastee is a perfect 3-0 against Hanahan since September of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. Hanahan took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Socastee, who comes in off a win.

Socastee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: St. James, who was ranked 18th at the time (Socastee was ranked fourth). The Braves were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Sharks on Thursday. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Socastee got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 30-28, 25-17, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Hanahan unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to Oceanside Collegiate Academy.

The 3-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 24-26, 25-22, 25-22.

Hanahan's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Socastee, their win bumped their record up to 23-7.

Socastee beat Hanahan 2-0 when the teams last played back in September. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
