Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Warren County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Iyauna Harley, who posted 25 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. Harley's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Mariah Harris was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds.
Warren County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wilson Prep was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Weldon 66-28. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Warren County better focus on containing Paris Best and MyAngel Brimage as the pair were huge in Wilson Prep's win. Best went 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points along with eight assists and six steals, while Brimage went 7 of 8 en route to 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Brimage a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Brown, who went 5 for 6 to rack up 12 points.
Wilson Prep's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Warren County, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Warren County has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 39 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wilson Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Warren County ended up a good deal behind Wilson Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2024, losing 68-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilson Prep's Nakiya Boston, who went 8 of 13 en route to 20 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Now that Warren County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
