Baseball Game Preview: Homestead Highlanders vs. Pius XI Catholic Popes

The Homestead Highlanders will take on the Pius XI Catholic Popes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hartford hit Homestead with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Highlanders came up short against the Orioles, falling 10-0. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Orioles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Pius XI Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 10-3 to Brookfield Academy.

Isaac Deida made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Pius XI Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Homestead, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Homestead took their victory against Pius XI Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 16-9 score. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Popes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
