Baseball Recap: Calhoun Comes Up Short

If Calhoun was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Loyola on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the St. Ann's Steamers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Otto Borden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Calhoun saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quentin Ruffin, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Jerve' Atsin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for St. Ann's, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Calhoun will face off against rival Columbia Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Ann's is set to challenge their familiar foe Friends Seminary at 4:15 p.m. on the 22nd.
