MaxPreps/USA Baseball name High School Players of the Week for May 11-17, 2015

DURHAM, N.C. -- USA Baseball and MaxPreps announced on Monday, the MaxPreps USA Baseball Player of the Week Award winners for the week of May 11-17, 2015, bringing national recognition to the top-performing high school athletes in the country.

Representing eight national regions, -- Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and West -- players are selected based upon stats that are submitted to MaxPreps.com by coaches and team administrators. For players to be nominated each week, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening. High school coaches may obtain an access code to enter stats for their teams at maxpreps.com/cl.

The winners for MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week Award are as follows:

Great Lakes
Anthony Forte, a senior at Conant (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) High School, went 8-for-9 (.889) at the plate with 13 RBIs to earn Great Lakes MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Forte ripped five home runs and a pair of double to slug 2.777 for the week. He also drew a walk for an on-base percentage of .909.



Mid-Atlantic
Justin Bullock, a sophomore at South Granville (Creedmoor, N.C.) High School, twirled seven innings of one-hit, shutout baseball to earn Mid-Atlantic MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week honors. The right-hander earned two wins on the week, striking out 15 and issuing just two walks.

Midwest
Hank Calvin, a senior at Louisiana (Louisiana, Mo.) High School, allowed zero hits and struck out 16 hitters in seven innings of work to earn Midwest MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Calvin was 1-0 for the week and did not allow any walks.

Northeast
George Estevez, a senior at Roosevelt (Roosevelt, N.Y.) High School, posted a .900/.917/1.100 slash line to earn Northeast MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Estevez went 9-for-10 with eight runs scored, six RBIs, a triple and two walks on the week.

Northwest
Joe Griffin, a senior at Elgin/Imbler (Elgin, Ore.) High School, tossed a complete game, no-hitter to earn Northwest MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Griffin struck out 13 over seven innings while not issuing a walk, in the team's 2-0 victory over Riverside.

Southeast
Tanner Huddleston, a senior at George County (Lucedale, Miss.) High School, blasted home runs for two of his six hits on the week to earn Southeast MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Huddleston was 6-for-7 (.857) with five RBIs, three runs scored, a double and a walk. He slugged 1.857 for the week.

Southwest
Dylan Duarte, a senior at Calallen (Corpus Christi, Texas) High School, dominated on the mound and at the plate to earn Southwest MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Duarte fired 10 innings on the mound, posting a 2-0 record, while not allowing a hit or a run. He struck out 14. At the plate, Duarte went 8-for-9 (.889) with nine RBIs and five doubles.



West
Gannon Miller, a junior at Cornerstone Christian (Wildomar, Calif.) High School, was 5-for-5 with five runs scores, six RBIs, and three home runs to earn West MaxPreps/USA Baseball Player of the Week. Miller also drew a pair of walks for a slash line of 1.000/1.000/2.800 for the week.
