Softball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Vernon Hills Cougars

The Cary-Grove Trojans will square off against the Vernon Hills Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Cary-Grove turned things around against Vernon Hills on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cougars 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since May 17, 2024.

Olivia Osadzinski was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Kaiser, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Cary-Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cary-Grove's victory bumped their record up to 8-20. As for Vernon Hills, they moved to 11-22 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
