Baseball Recap: Cissna Park Comes Up Short

Cissna Park had lost six straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it seven. They came up short against the Oakwood Comets, falling 17-0. The Timberwolves were not able to make up for their loss to the Comets from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Cissna Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jream Renteria, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

As for Oakwood, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Oakwood's side, Cam Harris looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Harris has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Oakwood let Jackson Dudley and Chase Harrison run wild. Dudley went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Harrison got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Harrison has become a key player for Oakwood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Bryson Marcinko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Cissna Park is taking a road trip to square off against Watseka at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oakwood, they will be playing at home against Armstrong at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
