Softball Game Preview: Tucker County Mountain Lions vs. Petersburg Vikings

Tucker County is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Petersburg is on a three-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Tucker County will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Petersburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Tucker County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Gilmer County on Friday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 14-2. The Mountain Lions have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Petersburg fell victim to University and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Hawks. The loss put an end to the Vikings' undefeated start to the season.

Petersburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miley Tingler, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Tucker County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Petersburg, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Tucker County couldn't quite get it done against Petersburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 7-3. Can Tucker County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
