Recap: Cascade Cougars vs. Stayton Eagles
The Cascade Cougars waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took down Stayton 62-47. Given Cascade's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Stayton is ranked 122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stayton's loss came despite strong showings from Ethan Whieldon and Kaden Holm. Whieldon scored nine points along with two steals, while Holm scored ten points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Holm grabbed two or more steals.
Stayton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cascade's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Stayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
Cascade will head out on the road to challenge North Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stayton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Newport at 5:30 p.m.
