Baseball Recap: Fulton Picks Up 17th Straight Win at Home

Fulton proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the New Lothrop Hornets. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three matches in a row.

Jared Akin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carson Litwiller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Robert Kral, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

Fulton's win was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for New Lothrop, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fulton beat the Hornets by a score of 10-8 later that day.
