Softball Game Preview: Shelby County Rockets vs. Spencer County Bears

The Shelby County Rockets will take on the Spencer County Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shelby County has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gallatin County hit Shelby County with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets fell 11-8 to the Wildcats.

Kaylee Cox put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madison Clark was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Spencer County came up short against Sacred Heart on Tuesday and fell 7-4.

Spencer County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Long, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Shelby County dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Spencer County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
