Baseball Recap: Franklin Academy Triumphs

Franklin Academy was handed a 14-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Gouverneur Wildcats 11-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their one-run performance the match before.

Brad Poupore made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Merick Meacham and Chase Carriero did most of the damage at the plate: Meacham went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double, while Carriero went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Camden Fleury was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Franklin Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Coincidentally, Franklin Academy and Gouverneur will both be playing Ogdensburg Free Academy the next time they take the field. The Huskies will head out to face the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will host them at 4:30 p.m. on May 6.
