Basketball Game Preview: Lanphier Lions vs. Rochester Rockets

The Lanphier Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Rochester Rockets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-20, which was the final score in Lanphier's tilt against Glenwood on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Titans are ranked 53rd).

Meanwhile, Rochester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 35-28 to Father McGivney Catholic.

Rochester's loss dropped their record down to 8-22. As for Lanphier, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.

Lanphier couldn't quite finish off Rochester when the teams last played back in January and fell 42-40. Can Lanphier avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
