Basketball Recap: Preston Picks Up 11th Consecutive Win

Preston waltzed into their game on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They came out on top against the Stratford Bulldogs by a score of 60-47. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oliver Smithwick, who went 6-for-13 en route to 14 points and seven boards. What's more, Smithwick also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Carson Owens was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

Preston pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for Stratford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Preston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stratford, they will square off against Wewoka at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
