Softball Game Preview: Foresthill Wildfires vs. Buckingham Charter Knights

The Foresthill Wildfires will face off against the Buckingham Charter Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Foresthill played against Encina on Wednesday and won via forfeit.

Foresthill will be up against a hot Buckingham Charter team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Knights beat Valley Christian on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Haley Griffin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 20 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tamia Cendejas was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Atlas Ebert, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Buckingham Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .614 or higher in four consecutive games.

Buckingham Charter pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Foresthill, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
