Softball Game Preview: Hylton Bulldogs vs. Potomac Senior Panthers

Hylton and Potomac Senior are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Hylton nor Potomac Senior posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Hylton's offense. They lost 6-0 to Massaponax on Thursday. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Hylton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayel Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Williams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Meanwhile, Potomac Senior came up short against Forest Park on Monday, falling 12-1. The Panthers have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Potomac Senior's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Hylton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Potomac Senior's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Hylton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Potomac Senior, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Hylton keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?

Hylton took their win against Potomac Senior in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 23-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
