Volleyball Recap: University Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Platte Valley on Tuesday, University came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Montrose Red Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Hawks from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

University was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Montrose work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 21-25, 19-25, 25-17, 15-13.

Delaney Lauer paced University's offense, picking up 21 kills. Lauer got some help from Kenley Rudiger and her 52 assists. Finally, Kaydence Lucero kept University's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Amaya Potter was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had nine digs and five assists.

With the loss, University broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 10-2. As for Montrose, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Grand Junction Central on the 4th. As for Montrose, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Village on the 4th.
