Football Recap: Mcadory Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

McAdory took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 57-7 victory over the Pleasant Grove Spartans. With the Yellowjackets ahead 29-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Derrion Davis and Kawann Johnson. Davis rushed for 123 yards and three scores on only eight carries while Johnson rushed for 143 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Johnson has posted since back in August of 2024. Carter Feagin was another key player, picking up 77 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

McAdory was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 331 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Grove only rushed for 43 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Pleasant Grove still got an impressive performance from Amare Peterson, who picked up 36 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 43 yards.

Looking ahead, McAdory will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Helena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasant Grove, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fairfield at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. This will be the Spartans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
