Softball Recap: Johnstown Comes Up Short

Johnstown came into this matchup off a tough 12-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Canajoharie Cougars by a score of 13-11 on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Sir Bills still had to take the loss.

Mia Iorio made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Valik, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Johnstown is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10. As for Canajoharie, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Looking ahead, Johnstown will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Northville at 7:00 p.m. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Sir Bills will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Canajoharie, they will venture away from home to square off against Fonda-Fultonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Valley Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
