Softball Game Preview: Tolono Unity Rockets vs. Seneca Fighting Irish

Tolono Unity is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Seneca is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Rockets will host the Fighting Irish at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Tolono Unity 1.9, Seneca 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Tolono Unity took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Normal Community, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets won by a run and slipped past the Ironmen 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rockets have posted since May 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Seneca's hitters rose to the challenge against a Mallards pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.71 runs allowed on Thursday. The Fighting Irish put the hurt on Henry-Senachwine with a sharp 11-1 win. The Fighting Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Seneca's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Tolono Unity, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Tolono Unity couldn't quite finish off Seneca in their previous matchup back in May of 2021 and fell 3-1. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
