Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lawrence County blew Floyd Central out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Floyd Central got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 7-5. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Logan Whisenant put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gray Derifield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lawrence County's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Floyd Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

While Lawrence County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
