Softball Recap: Fallston Comes Up Short

If Fallston was feeling good fresh off their 8-0 takedown of C. Milton Wright on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell just short of the Bohemia Manor Eagles by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ally Underwood spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Mary Pfaff was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex McDougall, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Fallston has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-6 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Bohemia Manor, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-2.

Fallston has already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Harford Tech on the 11th. Bohemia Manor has also already played their next matchup (against Colonel Richardson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
