Baseball Recap: Corry Comes Up Short

Girard hit Corry with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Beavers came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 14-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-1 loss on April 9th.

Karson Chamberlin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Corry: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. Zack Coulter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Corry now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Girard, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Corry will square off against Union City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Girard, they will challenge Greenville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Yellowjackets 3.1, the Trojans 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
