Basketball Recap: Kim/Branson Falls Despite Big Games from Sorrel Mosimann and Kennedy Cranson

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kim/Branson can now relate to. They lost 44-20 to the Hi-Plains Patriots on Friday. The Mustangs were down 32-10 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Kim/Branson's loss came despite strong showings from Kennedy Cranson and Sorrel Mosimann. Cranson posted nine points and six steals, while Mosimann had four points and five rebounds. Cranson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played.

Hi-Plains' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maggie Gorton, who earned seven points along with five boards and three steals. What's more, Gorton posted four assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Hernandez, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Kim/Branson and nudges their season record down to 12-9. As for Hi-Plains, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Kim/Branson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hi-Plains, they have already played their next contest, a 40-32 win against De Beque on the 8th.
