Baseball Recap: Torres Takes a Loss

Torres had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-16 to make it six. They fell 4-1 to the Madera South Stallions. Surprisingly, this marked the Toros' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Torres saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Escoto, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Another was Trey Garcia, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

As for Madera South, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-19-1. Surprisingly, this marked their third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Madera South's side, David Moles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Moles was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victor Palomino, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torres will face off against McLane at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madera South, they will take on Kings Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Stallions will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
