Basketball Recap: Marshall Finds Playoff Glory Versus Southeast

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Marshall walked away with it. They strolled past the Southeast Knights with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 66-49. Winning may never get old, but the Owls sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Marshall got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Thompson out in front who went 10-for-17 on his way to 26 points along with six boards and five assists. With that strong performance, Thompson is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Deacon Arends was another key player, shooting 57% from the field en route to 19 points.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 13-14. As for Southeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-14.

Coming up, Marshall will face off against Paseo Academy of Performing Arts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marshall will be up against Paseo Academy of Performing Arts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.73 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
