            Baseball Recap: Sperry Pirates vs. Sequoyah Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Sperry's game  last Saturday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Thursday. They blew past the Sequoyah Eagles 16-2. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous   contest.

 Aaden Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over five innings pitched. Miller was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. Those  two  runs gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news, Sperry got a  massive  performance out of  Eric Poyner, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Cuda Asher, who  scored a  run while going 3-for-3.
The  victory  got Sperry back to even at 1-1. As for Sequoyah, their  loss was their first of the  season and  makes their record 2-1.
 Looking ahead, Sperry is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will  face off against  Claremore  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Sequoyah, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Inola  at 5:00  p.m.
