Baseball Recap: Zimmerman Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Becker, Zimmerman was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the North Branch Vikings 5-4. The Thunder's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nathan Buermann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Wark, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Seth Cochran was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Zimmerman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for North Branch, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
