Wells hasn't had much luck against Alto recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wells Pirates will head out to face off against the Alto Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Wells has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Wells is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to Mt. Enterprise.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alto). They put the hurt on Neches with a sharp 22-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lacey Stephenson made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Stephenson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Alto got a massive performance out of Brianna Low, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Low a new career-high in RBI. Ashley Black was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Alto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Neches only posted an OBP of .182.

The win made it two in a row for Alto and bumps their season record up to 4-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Wells, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1.

Wells suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Alto in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Wells avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
