Recap: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. Montour Spartans
The Mars Fightin' Planets suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 69-48 walloping at the hands of Montour. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mars has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Mars lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Ceh. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Ceh has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 14 times he's played. Austen Wroblewski was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Leading Montour to victory were Ama tening Sow and Jake Wolfe. Sow dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Wolfe scored 21 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Brandon Bieranowski, who scored nine points.
This is the second loss in a row for Mars and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Montour, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mars will take on North Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Montour, they will head out on the road to take on West Mifflin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Mifflin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three games.
