Softball Game Preview: Austin Maroons vs. Del Valle Cardinals

The Austin Maroons will head out on the road to challenge the Del Valle Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Austin has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Austin's last matchup with Lake Travis could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. Austin came up short against Lake Travis, falling 16-0. The Maroons have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Austin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Everly Benkert, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Del Valle made easy work of Akins on Tuesday and carried off a 10-1 win. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Del Valle's win bumped their record up to 9-4-1. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Austin suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Del Valle when the teams last played back in February. Can Austin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
