The Robert C. Byrd Eagles took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They came out on top against Winfield by a score of 46-34. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 30% better than the opposition, as Robert C. Byrd's was.

Martina Howe was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Carleigh Curotz, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Winfield still got an impressive performance from Antonela Johnson, who scored ten points along with five assists and five steals. Ashlee Johnson was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Robert C. Byrd's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. As for Winfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robert C.
