Softball Game Preview: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Blackford Bruins

The Wes-Del Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Blackford Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wes-Del will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Wes-Del's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Tri-Central with a sharp 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Bailee West made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kenzie Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keylie Byrd, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Alexandria-Monroe hit Blackford with a eight-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bruins lost 13-3 to the Tigers. The Bruins have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Blackford's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Wes-Del, their record is now 9-3.

Wes-Del was able to grind out a solid win over Blackford in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, winning 6-1. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
