Basketball Recap: Orange Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jhamir Smith and Alex Mcculloch

It was a proper cat-fight when Orange took on Chagrin Falls on Friday. The Orange Lions fell 62-49 to the Chagrin Falls Tigers. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 63-55.

Orange's loss came despite strong showings from Alex Mcculloch and Jhamir Smith. Mcculloch went 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points and four steals, while Smith posted eight points. Jaylhin Sheppard also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Chagrin Falls had a senior duo take command as Oscar Difranco went 5 of 8 en route to 19 points along with five boards and four steals and Ryan Curtiss went 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Difranco has scored all season. Evan Castelluccio was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Orange's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Chagrin Falls, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orange will head out to face off against Midview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orange is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. As for Chagrin Falls, they are taking a road trip to challenge Aurora at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chagrin Falls also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.9 points per game.
