Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Tuscola Warriors

The Oakwood Comets will challenge the Tuscola Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Monday, Oakwood got the win against Watseka by a conclusive 16-1. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Chase Harrison made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has become a key player for Oakwood: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Harrison was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Marcinko, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Oakwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jackson Dudley, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Oakwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Watseka only posted a batting average of .000.

Meanwhile, Tuscola made easy work of Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman on Thursday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Oakwood's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Tuscola, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
