Preview: East Lyme Vikings vs. New London Whalers
East Lyme has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the New London Whalers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
East Lyme posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They skirted past Woodstock Academy 50-48.
Meanwhile, even though East Hartford scored an imposing 70 points on Thursday, New London still came out on top. New London took down East Hartford 86-70. The win made it back-to-back wins for New London.
It was another big night for Da'Shaun Phillips, who scored 24 points. Julius Washington was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
East Lyme pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for New London, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
East Lyme was dealt a bruising 80-47 defeat at the hands of New London in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can East Lyme avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
