Recap: Calusa Prep Colts vs. True North Classical Academy Titans

The Calusa Prep Colts suffered their biggest loss since November 29, 2023 on Friday. Their tough 99-78 loss to True North Classical Academy might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Calusa Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 434th, while True North Classical Academy is ranked 56th).

True North Classical Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasen Lopez, who scored 22 points. Lopez hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Boosie Swan, who scored 18 points.

Calusa Prep bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for True North Classical Academy, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Calusa Prep will head out on the road to face off against Horeb Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. True North Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Somerset Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Somerset Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
