Softball Recap: Union City Wins Going Away Against Bluffton

Union City owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They put the hurt on the Bluffton Tigers with a sharp 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Kierra Thacker's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Oaklee Reichard, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Reichard, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

Union City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Bluffton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
