Baseball Recap: Punxsutawney Triumphs

While Punxsutawney's win against DuBois Central Catholic wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chucks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cardinals 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Chucks in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Nevin Day's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Punxsutawney saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Stouffer, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Punxsutawney's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for DuBois Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.

The future could be bright for both Punxsutawney and DuBois Central Catholic: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Chucks will try to hand Bradford their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, DuBois Central Catholic will look to extend Johnsonburg's four-game losing streak when they meet at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
