Softball Recap: Munster Find Success

Munster won the last time they faced Valparaiso and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 9-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Ally Compton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alessandra Tovar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Izzy Tristan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Munster's record now sits at 14-8. As for Valparaiso, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6-1.

Looking ahead, Munster is taking a road trip to challenge Hobart at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Valparaiso, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against La Porte at 4:30 p.m.
