Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Mineral Ridge's Winning Streak

Mineral Ridge has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.96 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pymatuning Valley Lakers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.

Sullivan Sandy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Gerberry, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Mineral Ridge moved to 18-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Pymatuning Valley, their record now sits at 14-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Mineral Ridge will square off against Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pymatuning Valley, they will face off against Jefferson Area at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
