Baseball Recap: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Veritas Prep, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy blew past Veritas Prep 6-0 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Cade Zawada's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 1-2 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brendan MacLean, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sehaj Malhi, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The victory was the third in a row for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, bringing their record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Veritas Prep, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will head out to challenge Red Rock at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. We've got a battle between Falcons coming up.
