It's playoff time, and Menlo School had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Soledad Aztecs 4-3 on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Reid Plamondon tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Freehill, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chuck Wynn, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Menlo School's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Soledad, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18.

Menlo School has already played their next game, a 7-5 victory against Piedmont Hills on the 27th. Soledad does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
