Preview: LaGrange Gators vs. Leesville Wampus Cats
The LaGrange Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Leesville Wampus Cats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. LaGrange is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Thursday, LaGrange had to suffer through a rough 54-6 loss at the hands of Rayne.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Leesville beat DeRidder 28-22 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Leesville.
Xavier Ford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 230 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Leesville also got help from Izaiah Farley who showed off his sure hands for 112 receiving yards.
LaGrange's defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-3 Leesville and 4-3 Catholic of Pointe Coupee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.2% over those games). As for Leesville, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
LaGrange was taken down by Leesville 56-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for LaGrange, Parker Maks (who threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
