Soccer Game Preview: Newaygo vs. Lakeview

The Newaygo Lions will challenge the Lakeview Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Wednesday, Newaygo didn't have quite enough to beat Tri County Area and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for Newaygo in their meetings with Tri County Area: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Lakeview was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Big Rapids, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Lakeview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Big Rapids are ranked 137th).

Lakeview's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Newaygo, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1.

Newaygo beat Lakeview by a goal when the teams last played back in April, winning 3-2. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
