Softball Recap: Vicksburg Extends Winning Streak to Six

Vicksburg entered their tilt with Niles on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Vikings 15-5. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Vicksburg got a massive performance out of Kylynn Schroeder, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Lena Lancaster, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Vicksburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Vicksburg's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Niles, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, Vicksburg will host Unity Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.5, the Crusaders 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Niles, they will head out to challenge Dowagiac at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chieftains will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
