Baseball Recap: Centennial Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Centennial brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against the Danville Vikings on Monday as they made off with an 18-2 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Chargers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Chris Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Centennial's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-16 when he doesn't). Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Madden Ritter was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Tate Sauer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Danville only posted an OBP of .316.

Centennial's win bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Danville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will take on Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Danville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Normal West at 4:30 p.m.
