Basketball Recap: Providence Classical Christian Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Providence Classical Christian Academy and Christian Learning Center squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Providence Classical Christian Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Christian Learning Center Mustangs by a score of 44-42. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2016.

Providence Classical Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lance Zrodlowski, who posted 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Zrodlowski is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Mattull, who put up nine points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Even though they lost, Providence Classical Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Christian Learning Center's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Easton Rhodes, who scored 15 points. Jackson Bean was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Providence Classical Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Christian Learning Center, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-12.

Providence Classical Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 75-49 defeat against Ozarks Christian Academy on the 15th. As for Christian Learning Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 93-66 loss against North County Christian on the 15th.
